Loud after laying
With our girls, 1 of the Buffs in particular is very loud before and after laying an egg. She makes all kinds of noise on the way into the coop to lay and then once done will stand on the ramp outside the coop making a HUGE racket. ventilation question with a wood shed
In our coop we have two attic vents on opposite sides along with 2 windows that can be open and shut. With our girls we've always erred on the side of caution, so seeing that you're in TX and the summers can get hot, I'd go with the extra.
