New chicken pecked one of my female ducks. Both female ducks are now isolated. I cleaned the wound around the eye with rubbing alcohol twice so far and treated with pdp-erythromycin after each time. I also picked up polysporin red eye treatment cause it's for killing bacteria. I cannot go to...
So I got a new chicken a couple weeks ago and she pecked right under the eye of one of my ducks last night. The female duck is put aside with her sister at the moment away from everyone else. I cannot go to the vet because they will only see dogs and cats during this covid crap. So I cleaned...
Only got two. I live in the city and we have a three bird limit. I'm already testing it with four ducks. And a chicken. I bought them all as babies and was hoping for all females. Ended up with two and two
So the guy that was supposed to take my extra male fell through. So now I got fighting just kinda starting. And since these first few ducks are pets it will be hard to put down my extra male will he suffer much if I turn him into an inside duck. And bring him around with me. Or will he miss...
Will my boys over breeding. That is the nice way to say it. Cause one of my girls to lay premature. She has been doing that over the last two weeks with the added mating pressure. Laying soft eggs in the evening while trying to hide from the assholes (my two males) has anyone else had that. She...
So I'm 3 to 4 females short of a happy flock. Which is not possible since I'm in the city. Wish I could get more but I'm sure my neighbour's would object.
Or do I just get rid of both of them. That's an option as well. But They both did well in the great skunk attack of 2019. Held off two skunks till I was able to get to the pen and chase the skunks off. But i actually have a half day off today I'll watch them to see who is more aggressive all day.
So don't worry about keeping the Welsh Harlequin matched then. Both drakes are good, but the Welsh is a little more aggressive with the females, but when I grab either male it's the khaki that is more standoffish if I holding him for some reason. The male Welsh gave up on fighting me. It's a...
The two boys won't let the girls alone. Constantly chasing them down. To the point where they try to shelter themselves away from the boys so the cannot mount them. It is causing one of my girls some stress.
So I have these two males and need to decide which to keep so they don't over mate my two females. I have a female Welsh Harlequin and female buff Orpington. And my males one is a khaki the other is a Welsh. The nicer drake is the khaki. But I read somewhere that Welsh Harlequin are endangered...
