I’ve posted my chicks before but I they were too young to identify. We did get our first egg today and it’s a green speckled one. I’m not sure which chick laid it though.
The black one is Ziggy and the multi-colored is Torchic. Ziggy is smaller than Torchic and came from a blue or pink egg...
We’ve made it past 8 weeks and moved our ladies outside. We’re decided that they’re a mystery mixed breed but wanted some ideas as to what they’re mixed with. 🙂
Update - the chicks are 6 weeks old!
I did my best to take quality pictures of them but definitely struggled. Are their genders identifiable now? I would also appreciate suggestions on breed(s). 😊 They were given to my son’s class by a local 4H club, so I don’t expect them to be pure bred by any...
Thanks! So, my son’s class had the chicks in a plastic bin with a heat lamp, and that’s what we did. We just tried to be mindful about how close the lamp was to the chicks. As for the latest pictures, they’re in a pre-fab coop we purchase from Tractor Supply. (I know they’re not the most sturdy...
Which is totally fine! We’ve been searching and trying to see what they look like, which has been a lot of fun. 😊 Our kids have enjoyed looking up different breeds and seeing if our chicks have similar traits and whatnot.
Torchic (the yellow one) came from a “big white egg according to my son. His class hatched the eggs in their science class. They received the eggs from a local university’s 4H club.
Update- I know I’m probably still too early but could someone help me identify the breed and sex of these chicks? Trying to be patient but… our whole family is a bit overexcited. 😅
