    Rarest breed of chicken in the US?

    I have 3 Sicilian Buttercups that my sister gave me for my birthday. They are beautiful and geat layers. But, I have never seen them mentioned anywhere.

    Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

    I would love to add 1-2 Marans hens to my flock, but the feed stores don't seem to get this breed in. I am too far from a metropolitan area to order chicks, plus I have to order too many. Still checking Craigslist!

    My hen would not move this morning, was wheezing

    She was dead within a couple hours. No weeping from the eyes that I could see (re:Newcastles). I also checked into symptoms of CRD (?) Except for the wheezing... There were no signs of predators. The hens are kept fenced and not allowed to roam. I am at a loss and worried about my other 7 hens...
