I have moved out of my parents home in Pacific Palisades and can no longer give these hens(Australorp and barred Plymouth rock) the time they deserve. I also have a chicken coop for sale if anyone wants it.
PM me if you can help them out, looking for a good home for them.
I have 1 Barred Plymouth Rock and 1 Australorp hens. They are approx 3+ yo. I will be including coop(with water nipple system, automatic photosensitive swing door hooked up to a transformer (no batteries needed) on a timer, 3 runs, fencing, feeders, oxine ah w/fogger, Corid, and any remaining...
If this hasn't been mentioned, a few nice additions depending on your situation that I have done are:
1. automatic coop door that opens and closes according to light conditions (I used an AC to DC transformer instead of a battery and put it on an outlet timer so that its not running at night)...
Just wanted to let everyone know about a scenario I came across. One of my chickens had been staying in the coop all day long and night. I initially thought she was sick and took her to the vet for a check up and blood work. Nothing came back positive although they said she looked a little...
I mean sometimes the eggs would be a little dirty and I would only clean them right before eating/cooking with them. I heard when you clean them they lose their natural coating that helps preserve them out of the fridge. I wondering if I clean them or not?
make sure the 5 gallon bucket or whatever you're using is high enough to give more pressure to the nipples and also make sure the nipples are at or around the lowest point an enough water in the bucket!
I love having my coffee every morning! i use organic instant and hazelnut natural flavored coffee. i add the tiniest bit of coconut oil plus stevia for sweetener... it is a 10! must try :)
Well, this is sort of a funny situation I find myself in now. I originally got the chickens for the eggs but am now vegan! I'm not sure exactly what to do with my current eggs and future eggs until I am able to find a new owner for the chickens and coop. Thought this would be a good discussion...
Have to get rid of my coop and chickens again (didn't end up doing it in the first place). Guess I have to post a few more times to list tho unfortunately.
I also tapped the nipple while they were near. I used a long branch so I wasn't too close to scare them away. I held the branch against to let it drip and also tapped so they could put two and two together.
