Hi! I'm sure this has been asked before, but my search didn't pull up anything useful so I thought I'd just start a new thread :) I'm brand spankin new to incubating eggs and we are in day 21. I candled on day 18 and all looked well in the eggs. But I have yet to see any rocking or movement...
We have 6 orpingtons in our flock and they are the sweetest birds we have. When we go outside they all run to us and let us pet and hold them. We had heard that Orpingtons were great chickens for kids and we would definitely agree. They are the only birds in our flock that allow the children...
Thank you for the help :). After 2 years of research and prep we finally took the chicken raising plunge and are finding it's more of a learn as you go thing :). I appreciate the responses!
3 of my orpingtons have much darker and more mature combs that just developed. They were supposed to be sexed but I know that isn't an exact science so I'm concerned some are Roos, or hopefully they are just maturing quicker. I'd appreciate some input :). Here are 3 that I could get a quick...
They won't start using it if there is another, easier, water source. Have you removed all other water sources from the environment? When I got mine I just tapped it in front of them a few times to get them curious and they took to it right away. But when they have their other waterer filled...
Mine aren't laying yet, but I've been saving up egg containers. A couple of them are plastic so I'm planning on just carrying one of the plastic ones out with me to the coop when I collect. If it gets dirty I can just rinse it off and use it again ;)
Thanks. I wouldn't even know which chicken it was honestly. My boys were out with them and came running to tell me one of the orpingtons ate the balloon. We have 6 orpingtons and I can usually tell them apart, but my kiddos cannot, so they couldn't show me which one it was. I guess if one...
I bought them at the feed store and they were supposed to be pullets, but they both look like roosters to me based on the tails (I've never had easter eggers before though). they are about 7 weeks. Thanks for the help!
I have a britetap chicken waterer and really like it! We are new to chickens (ours are 6 weeks) but the first 5 weeks were really frustrating with the water situation. They were always knocking it over, and getting poop and bedding in it. It was just gross. But we love the britetap!
