I haven't but I know a lady who has bought chickens at one such auction. She swears she'll never do it again as the birds turned out to have all kinds of sicknesses that didn't show up until some time later. They were also riddles with mites. I don't think it was a Nelson auction though.
Just out of curiosity... does anybody in the Omaha vicinity have a really broody old hen they'd be willing to let me talk them out of? It's possible I may be interested in acquiring one before long here.
13 week old Rhode Island Red, had her since 1 day old. Brooding inside, so weather isn't a factor. It's probably been there a week or so. My bird eat and drink very well in fact. No other apparent symptoms. They are wormed but unvaccinated. Using medicated feed.
First flock though. I've looked at some pictures online.. I personally don't think she's a roo, but a couple of more experience have said she is.
