Hey, area peeps, can you spread the word amongs your local chicken friends?

On New Years Day, at the split of rts. 31 and 12, by Once Upon a Tile, a hen was found in a snow bank! She is currently being fostered by kind folks of Ahimsa Haven Animal Rescue. She's a sweety! Not afraid of people, cats or dogs! If she's yours, please contact me and I'll put you in touch...
"Bob" is a cute little Buff Orpington cockerel hatched around June 6-7th. He needs a new home. Do you have some ladies who need a chaperone? He lives in North Central MA, and could be driven a reasonable distance to your place. Contact Michaelmas Farm michaelmasfarm at comcast dot net
This nice fellow needs a flocks of his own ASAP...
One year old New Hampshire Red (hatched May 2011)
Nice enough guy (no attacks on people), takes good care of his ladies, vigilant to predators.
He's just too BIG for my smaller EE girls, and they have sore, scabby backs now:(
He needs some...
And re the beavers, I'd rather have a flood plain or a pond to look at, than a home
I'm afraid you'd be in the minority in this opinion, Chicknmania. Most of us work too blasted hard to pay for our homes to be consoled by the "view" as they become flooded and uninhabitable from beaver dams...
Melbourn12, have you heard of "SSS"?
(Shoot, Shovel and Shut up)
Don't know whether you're allowed any firearm which would effectively take out a fox.
They passed the same sort of protection for beaver around here in MA. Now they're creating flood plains and ponds where there were once...
Mulewagon, apparently, we have the extremely rare "Honey Badger Squirrels" here, 'cos they don't care. They're baddass. They wait until after it rains and washed enough away. The birds maybe get one day of peace.
Lazy Q, maybe you can help me in my latest "wondering"...squirrel.
I have discovered this year that I LOVE rabbit meat. I have had rabbits as pets in my life, and my last bunny friend, Sylvia, lived indoors, and was just the smartest and most personable companion. I know I could never raise...
I love it!!
The ultimate in recycling...TURNING COCKROACHES INTO DELICIOUS EGGS!!
Chickens turn a whole lot of otherwise inedible stuff into the perfect food for us...eggs. Kitchen left-overs, garden waste, bugs. No cockroaches up here above the Arctic Circle in Central MA, but I get simple...
Instead of olive oil, my local chicken vet recommended Laxatone (cat hairball remedy) or plain Vaseline. Food oils get digested, and the lubricating properties are lost. The blockage may be further down the digestive system, and petrolium/petrolatum products are not digested, so they lubricate...
I would lean toward botulism, as well, with the dead critter in the stagnant pond. Fence off the pond and all the muddy area around it. Molasses flushes for everyone!
If the crop hasn't gone down by morning, you can give Laxatone (cat hairball remedy) or just plain petrolium jelly. I used a short, rubber tube and syringe to force feed 1ml into the crop (bypass the wind pipe) every 12 hours. I don't know if you could trick her into eating it by mixing it in...
Heatherlynn, what a gift to your children:) Teaching them to enjoy cooking from scratch is a gift which will keep them happy and healthy for a lifetime, and it's good for your (future) grand-kids and (future) great-grand-kids, too! It is the ONLY gift which will guarantee the continuation of...
Wow! Thanks for satisfying my curiosity, ctbagley. We do have Copperheads up here, but they prefer rockier areas. When I lived out in Western MA, we would catch sight of them sunning on rocks when we were trail riding horses up in the hills, especially around cave areas. Even in that area of...
