Polish Hen with Eye Wound from Fighting

She's back to living normally - dirty face, cranky, but happy and part of the flock. Her pupil is scrambled, but she can see shadows / changes in light.

Polish Hen with Eye Wound from Fighting

That's what I'm doing now. Keeping the antibiotic ointment on her eye, keeping it moist. She's not very happy being alone, but she's safe, and we'll keep this going. I will give an update in a few days on how she's doing.

Polish Hen with Eye Wound from Fighting

Hello everyone - I have 1 year old Polish hen with some severe swelling around her eye from a wound she got while fighting. I have flushed the wound, there is nothing in her eye that I can find, however it is so swollen and it looks like her inner eyelid is pushing out the socket. The eye...

Turkey poult growing slowly - should I worry?

This is my fourth experience raising turkey poults. I'm new to this, I've only ever raised chickens and waterfowl before. It's parents both grew much faster than it is though, which caused me to worry. I take those daily, so I'll start that today too. Thank you so much! I really appreciate...

Turkey poult growing slowly - should I worry?

I'll switch it to something else today. I was trying to supplement the missing vitamins with the nutri-drench.

Turkey poult growing slowly - should I worry?

I have a royal palm x bronze breasted poultry that seems to be growing really slowly to me. I'm already worried, but I don't know how worried I should and whether or not I should be doing something more for it. It hatched late May 30th or the wee hours of June 1st, and it's still mostly baby...

    First time with an incubator

Thank you. Coming from someone more experienced in this, it means a lot. We named them all. Sunkist the one from post 11, Tio is the second gold colored one, and Punkin is the black and yellow.

    First time with an incubator

It's actually just a Maglite, cupped in my hand. Worked beautifully as a candler.

    First time with an incubator

One is the baby from post 11, but we ended up deciding cull the one from picture 17. I feel like murdering monster, but I believe it was the right thing to do.

    First time with an incubator

I lost the youngest one. I've got three, seemingly healthy, babies left. They all eat, drink, and run around like crazy. Super active. I hope they stay this way.

    First time with an incubator

I'm down to four. The last one to hatch is drinking, but hasn't eaten. It can't stop flipping to it's back because it's legs don't fully work. It's a LOT more active and vocal than on day one, but we're still highly concerned.

    First time with an incubator

So this is what I ended up doing. It looks bright, but I've got a temp gage in there and am monitoring it. She's moving around a lot more now, which I think is good. I separated her from the others because they were chewing on her feet and walking all over her.

Number 6 is fully dry and in the brooder, but can't stand up or hold its head up. I'm really worried.
