That's a relief. But why do they look so different and why aren't they laying eggs yet? I got all the chicks at the end of March so they are all 6-6 1/2 months old. I've been getting eggs consistently since midAugust

My two six month old Gold Brabanters. Out of the nine chicks we got in March, the GB is the only breed we got two of. The one with the Mohawk is Hey Hey. He had a Mohawk at 3 days old. The other one is Kitty. I believe Hey Hey is a roo but although Kitty has no tail, no mohawk, she's not laying...
Thank you. Should I just tuck them in this thread or do another one? They both look different which leads me to believe they're different sexes but I know neither is laying. And the neck coloring seems to suggest they're Roos. They're both six months old.
So sorry about the loss of your chicks. Chickens in general can be difficult to diagnose and treat sometimes. Can you necropsy the first one too? Unless a chicken has died of old age, I always send them for necropsy. I wouldn't cull the rest. They could be completely fine.
Looks like an Ameracauna or Easter Egger hen. I had a Banty like this, years ago. But good luck! It's hard to tell some times. I'm still waiting on two six month olds but I think they're both roosters.
Well turns out I asked my question just a little too soon! I've gotten a green egg everyday this week and I know it's not coming from one chicken. One is a very pale green and the other is more a sage green. I don't know which girl started laying 1 1/2 months ago. I just assumed it was...
Here's the other one I bought as an Ameracauna (Chickietta) but I think she actually is one. Her and Riley look different. Their combs are different and Chickietta has very pronounced muffs even though they don't show up well in this picture.
Hi there! We got six chicks in March from a feed store that isn't well versed in their chickens. Two of them came from an incubator marked Ameracauna. Well apparently it was marked incorrectly because once I got them home I quickly realized that one was a Black Australorp. I have no idea what...
