Budgie was sold as a male, but has a crusty cere?

Thank you for the response! Pip is about 4-5 years old, and his cere has consistently been the same color. I've not actually touched the crust (which oftentimes comes and goes), but will as soon as possible. :)

Hawk vs vulture: Any pix of them flying so I can see the difference?

Alrighty, finally found a few pictures in my arsenal.....sadly, I really didn't manage to capture great shots of anything, but I'll happily share nonetheless. :) You'll need to zoom in quite a bit. ;) Red-tailed Hawk in winter plumage - Immature Red-shouldered Hawk - Northern Harrier -...

What breed of bird should I get for show next year?

Fantastic choice, @sunny_bellyboo ! :clap Not only are d'Uccles flashy, but they're chock full of spicy personality. :) You say you're ordering from Meyer Hatchery? While I love my Meyer birds, Eagle Nest Poultry's d'Uccles simply can't be surpassed as far as quality goes (considering these...

Hawk vs vulture: Any pix of them flying so I can see the difference?

Apart from the behavioral differences explained above, color is also a good hint as to what you're dealing with. :) (taking into consideration that it can sometimes be difficult to distinguish details when in flight) For the most part, your local hawks are going to be some variation of white...

Budgie was sold as a male, but has a crusty cere?

Bantam chickens.. a friendly discussion about all pure and mixed breeds.

Thank you all for your immensely kind words. :hugs:hugs:hugs So encouraging, which is exactly what I needed right now. Just to clarify, I'm not completely giving up on keeping poultry....there simply need to be some modifications made before adding to the flock again. :hmm Had I not been outside...
