    Pecked Upper Beak

I do have them on a 30% protein game bird starter. I was told the chicks would help the poults find the feed. Since they seem to be doing fine with eating & drinking I will separate the chicks from them. Thank you for the help!

    Pecked Upper Beak

Thank you so much! That really made me happy! It's such a sweet poult too I wouldn't want to lose it.

    Pecked Upper Beak

Thank you for the reply! I have watched it eat and drink and it seems to do so normally. I haven't noticed any of the others picking at it either. I only bought 2 poults so it's in a tote with the other poult and 2 chicks. They seem to all get along. This is my first time every having turkey...

    Pecked Upper Beak

I bought turkey poults yesterday. The seller pointed out how the guinea chicks had been pecking at the poults beaks but upon closer inspection, one's top beak is in pretty bad shape. How likely is this to affect the turkey's quality of life? It's breathing seems odd as well which I'm sure is...

    Fertile eggs not developing

I just went back and looked at my calendar. They hatched out on December 1, 2023 so they are 1 yr and 4 months.

    Fertile eggs not developing

Thank you for your reply! I definitely agree. I think it is something genetic because they all get the same feed and this doesn't happen with the other breeds of hens 😔

    Fertile eggs not developing

I have some Silver Laced Chocolate English Orpingtons who I have been trying to hatch eggs from in my incubator. There is crystal clear evidence of fertilization but NONE of them are developing at all in my incubator. I have other eggs in with them from my whiting true Blue hen and they are...

How did this happen?? English Orpington!!

I was able to get a hold of the lady I bought them from and when I asked her about this, this was her response. I have never heard of full blood chocolates producing any other color. So should I take this as the parents are not full blooded?

Also, will these different colored chicks eventually look chocolate? Or will they have different coloring?

How did this happen?? English Orpington!!

Ive had more of this color of chick hatch out in the incubator. How am I able to get this out of my line? Or would I just need a whole different rooster & hens?

How did this happen?? English Orpington!!

Thank you! The rooster is such a gentleman as well!! Never tries to flog me and real good at watching over his ladies. Any clue how I could breed out the bad genes then? I really wouldn't want to sell the rooster since he's so great.

How did this happen?? English Orpington!!

Its probably my lighting. My phone isn't the greatest. I attached a pic of an older chocolate chick as well.

How did this happen?? English Orpington!!

Thank you for this! These are the only chocolates I have & I purchased them already grown a few months ago. Is there any way to check in to their genetics?

How did this happen?? English Orpington!!

Okay so I have some English chocolate orpingtons (3 hens & 1 roo). I've been hatching out some of their eggs in the incubator and I have one that hatched a different color!! I am so confused because there is absolutely no access for any other rooster to get to these hens!! And when I gather, I...
