Neighbor and I are looking to add color to the flocks (feathers, not shells) but would rather buy and pick up from a Florida hatchery. Does anyone have or know of a hatchery with these (one or many) breeds?
Gold-Laced Wyandotte
Silver-Laced Wyandotte
Blue Andalusian
Welsummer
You guys are really good about breed so I'm going to put this in the mix.
Neighbor got him as a 6 week old and he has since taken over my flock when my RIR Roo got killed by a hawk. Picture is not great it was raining and through a fence.

You're a stones throw away from me in W. Melbourne. Both me and my neighbor have chickens (and 2 folks down the street). There are tons of chicken people around me.

I built mine like you described. I put down blocks, leveled them, the built a floor joist system just like a house except I used treated wood. I put down plywood subfloor (others use chip board) then I glued linoleum to that. Then i covered it all with pine chips that get cleaned out once a...

I hope they all come up. Already can't wait (I don't have alot of patience - terrible trait in gardening)
That's the advantage of living in Florida. I plant seeds 1 Jan and put in the ground 1 Mar. If I can keep my chickens out of the gardens, I'll have veggies by mid April.
When I was in MO, we wouldn't plant plants til May and hope for Tomatoes by 4 July picnic.

If they come up and are strong at the end of Feb, maybe I'll get a large selection of veggies.
Tough tough fall gardening this year. My first set of tomato plants from seed were all broken/killed by tropical storm rains for 2 days. I bought plants from my local feed store only to watch them get beat up by more rain this week. I'm beginning to think I'm not going to get a fall tomato...
After yesterday's almost TS now TS Julia's rain my little flock needs row boats and kayaks to get around the back yard. The run is squishy wet but the coop made it through with flying colors; not a single drop of water inside.
Last night 7 of the 12 birds didn't go back to the coop to...
I have an EE (my avatar) who was so close to going into the pot she could feel the hot water. She was 33 weeks old before she layed her first egg. If she wasn't pretty she'd be dinner. My RIRs & BR's all were under 21 with 2 only 17 weeks. All that wait but no blue egg. It's cream-colored.
