    Homemade coop and run for 8 girls. Automatic door openers, lights for longer daylight hours all on timers. Poultry fencing so girls can be out in the yard all day.

    My coop is small but fits my 8 girls. You can see the inside of the coop where the roost is in front of thee curtains to the nesting boxes...should I "lift" the roost another six inches, that's about all I can do.....one or two of the girls will sometimes try to sleep in the nesting boxes, but...

    What to put on the bottom of the run

    Okay, I'm new at this....my run is 7 x 15 feet.....thinking of putting sand at the bottom, thinking of putting several rubber floor mats that have holes in them for drainage on the bottom, so I can hose it off and not have it get muddy....with a small section blocked off and putting sand in that...

    Bought a prefab coop and my husband is now finishing up on a 6ft x 12ft run which the coop will be inside.....when it's done I will post pictures....excited about my new venture and look forward to all the tips I can get. My hens should be ready this week....will be about 17 weeks old.
