Thank you v much. Will google those now. Sulmtaler was what I could remember - sounds like sultana!!
Considering these eggs were all donated to a school project, someone has been incredibly generous. i feel v lucky to be able to raise them
I hatched 4 mystery chicks 16 weeks ago and posted pics of them on here. Now that they're a bit bigger and more distinctive, was hoping someone might be able to help me identify three of them. I know one is a golden campine but I'm not too sure about the rest....
A breed was suggested for this...
First egg from our new batch of home hatched chicks. This egg is from a bought chick though.
None of the others have started laying yet. What will I do about feeding? I don't want to put all of them on layers pellets but don't want this little girl having issues because she's not on layers. Any...
Had to put five in tonight's!! They didn't seem as bothered about going in though. I'm going to try taking the outdoor perches out around five tomorrow evening and see if that makes any difference. The stupid thing is, two of them who were at the ends didn't feel too warm when we lifted them...
That's a great idea. I'll definitely do that if they don't sort it out soon. Tonight is supposed to be a much colder evening so I'm hoping that itself might drive them in. If not, the floor it is. Daft birds!
Thank you
Hi,
I recently moved my home hatched chicks outside along with three bought chicks of about the same age. They are loving the large run that they now have but four of them seem freaked out by the coop. The first night, we lifted them all inside on the perches and blocked up the doorway so they...
Hi,
I've been lurking on BYC for a long time as it's always the first hit when I search online for chicken information. I registered many years ago but am becoming an active member.
I have hatched four random chicks five weeks ago. 1is a golden Campine, the others I have no idea about. We...
We went out at the weekend and bought a silver laced Wyandotte, a creole aracauna (?) and a cream legbar to join our little gang. All seem to have settled well together after a few days but four of them really don't want to sleep in the coop. We are having to physically put them in every night...
I'm fairly sure they will all be mixes. I doubt that any of them are pure and I also doubt any of them are fancy breeds in honesty. My friend knows nothing about chickens, she got the eggs from friends of hers and what they told her they might be meant nothing to her at all!!
I'm hoping to get...
Ive done a bit of research and I don't think the black one can be a Sumatra unfortunately, which is a real shame as they are beautiful! The article I read said Sumatras had black skin and she has a little bald spot on her neck and the skin underneath is definitely pink. Would have loved a...
That's brilliant, thank you so much. I did a bit of research yesterday after speaking to someone and they suggested the last one might be an Austrian Sulmtaler? Any thoughts?

This bird is solid black, including eyes, beak and legs/feet. From birth she has had very small bald patches. At first I thought she was being pecked but I think they are just there. Whether that's a breed thing or just a quirk, I'm not sure.
This one is the quietest and...
