No...that is her head feathers... I am thinking she is a coastal quail....I believe it is a subspecies of the California. One of the links I put on earlier has a link to a photo we have been looking at...she looks like a lot of other birds.....except for that topknot!
I have another odd question. Since she is growing up and no interest in other birds when we take her outside.....will she be alright alone? With no other bird company....she spends a lot of her day on people's shoulders but is that enough.
Thanks so much.....I didn't realize that those had the head plume. The coturnix are button quails are they not....I didn't think that these were indigenous to my area...I live in northern WA state.
