Roo #2- Hatched March 30,2018. Easter egger roo. Came from a blue egg. Handsome guy! Looks stunning in the sun! He’s very friendly, and takes great care of...
Make sure your birds also have free choice access to grit. That will prevent potential blockages from forming! See if you can get her to take some grit.
Good luck with your girl!
She is definitely a good eater. She is lower in the pecking order but she visits the feed frequently through the day, and isn’t bullied. They are also getting balance to their diet as the free range. There food is a pellet with added calcium for layers. I have doubts that it is diet related as...
They are fed a layer feed as their main ration and a variety of healthy treats (fresh corn, scrambled egg, fruits/veggies) and have oyster shells and grit at choice, and they free range most of the day. All my other birds lay very strong shells with no issues. This hen has me stumped.
I’m hoping someone has some tips on how (or if I can) correct an issue with one of my hens eggs. She consistently lays very weak shelled eggs. They often break in the nesting box and make a mess . They are sometimes almost paper thin shells.
Some info about the hen, she’s about a year old...
I’ve had a few hatch with yolk or cord remnants still attached. It dries up or absorbs (yolk) and they all grew into happy healthy hens! So your little one should be just fine. Be sure to leave him/her in the incubator to dry up! Good luck
I’m going to try my best to identify them, but I just love having a colour variety in the eggs I sell to friends and family! I’ll be happy if they are all strong and healthy (and mostly female )
Just wanted to share my pretty eggs with people who care and appreciate the process! It’s day 18 lockdown day (3 days to go)!! Wish these little chicks good luck! Happy hatching little ones.
Perfect thanks, that was the one I was leaning towards.but I am always Leary about administering liquids orally due to the risk of aspiration. But I’ll do some research first. Since it seem like the most effective product.
May I ask what deworming product you recommend? There are so many options. And finding a balance between effectiveness and the least amount of egg withdrawal has proven difficult.
Oh my! Well okay then I will not be taking a chance then. I just hate to waste eggs.
Thanks for the input. There’s a lot of varying advice on the net but I like to know peoples personal experience above all else.
