"Talk"to your chickens (make a unique sound) so they know who you are, and can identify you. All of my animals know my sounds that i make to them. I can have the entire yard piled up against my legs just by making a tic and a cluck! Someday I'll get someone to record it on video, it's crazy to...
Mix the venison 50-50% with Ground Beef and feed it to your family,
Or just add beef tallow to the venison, it is so lean that it needs that tallow from beef.
If you do that your family will all enjoy it.
It Worked for me. We Loved it.
My hens and roosters don't leave my mowed yard. That gives them about 3 acres. They stop where the grass gets tall.
For some reason my chickens don't cross the road either!
They also don't like Snow! They stay in the coop if the ground is white.
I do give them scratch in front of the coop...
I have stair stepped roosts. I you have an old junk wooden ladder lean it up against your roost. They will climb it all the way to the top then spread out on the roost. Some will even stay on the ladder.
An Upside down 5 gallon pail in front of the roost may be all you need too.

I had 3 But one was way too ornery, Kept going after the kids and mom. had to eat him.
I kept my other 2 around just to keep my eggs fertile. No need for it, but those who know how to tell a fertile egg always comment "You have a Rooster!"

I Had a Broody hen too, i gave her 8 eggs 3 weeks ago. Today We have at least 4 chicks already.
My concern is that they are in one of the nest boxes where the other hens lay, and the nest box is Two Feet off the floor.
Will all the chicks jump out at the same time to be with momma.
Do I need to...

I Just tore out a timer that was in my chicken coop that did almost exactly what you describe, it looked like it shut off 6 of the 8 lights then the last 2 later. It actually controlled 2 lighting circuits. It had a date saying it was installed in 1956! I didn't check to see if it was still...
