Thank you everyone who responded. I was going back and forth about whether to keep him or not. From the replies it seems like he may actually be mostly sumatra and if so, he may be quite a looker (if not totally pure or recongized) when he matures and those saddle feathers come in. I will most...
Thank you Local. I've done a lot of research on the sumatras and black is the only recognized color but they also come in blue and white. He has greenish gray legs and his toes are yellow. The comb looks about right but that's really about it to me. I thought he was a pullet up until a few days...
Hi All
I have an 8 week old little cockerel that I just have no idea what breed he is. The woman I got him from (as a day old chick) said he was a sumatra, but he isn't and I'm pretty sure he isn't crossed with one. She said she had no mixed pens and all her chicks are pure. She isn't...
I set my first batch on 4/15! I'm very excited although I didn't get a good start since I had to toss one on day 3. Peeee yew! I see some faint veining on some and nothing (so far) on others. Some of them I see a dark mass in the center that doesn't move when I shift the egg or the flashlight...
I'm hoping to make it to this swap on the 17th, I'm looking for a trio or 3 hens either Delawares or SLW. Not set up for chicks, preferably just starting to feather out and not laying yet. If anyone has any they are willing to part with, please let me know! Thank you!
I will most likely be attending this swap. I'm looking for Delawares or Silver Laced Wyandottes. Either a trio or 3 hens, preferably just feathering out. I'm not set up for chicks but I don't want hens of laying age just yet. Hopefully someone will have a few they are willing to part with!
So, silly question. Maybe.
How do you reinforce the lid that is cut along the bottom? If a chicken tried to roost or stepped on it wrong, I'd think that it would pop off? Maybe I missed something in the previous posts about this. Thanks!
