    Thank you, I'm sure Ethel is with her sisters Diva and Betsy... it was sad day when I found her. I was blessed and I still call her name when I go out to feed and then realize she's gone.

    It is with great sadness I report our 13 almost 14 year old girl Ethel went over the rainbow bridge. I noticed she wasn't doing well and then found her dead in her coop. We buried her under the rhododendron tree next to her coop.

    We got Ethel 3 little pullets that are now 5 weeks old. She had been visiting with the baby chicks while they were in the brooder. We moved them out to the big girl house yesterday and Ethel LOVES them. She didn't peck at them and seemed happy to have company.

    Coop Readiness - How soon can chicks go out in a coop?

    We live in Northern coast of California. Our average temperature this time of year is around 58 and low is 49. Our girls are completely feathered. I don't have a heat lamp but I want to put them in the big girl coop. Is it too early, they are 5 weeks old now.
