So far so good nobody else is sick. Got some starter and wife is putting mother in water?
They are now getting yogurt too.
We have eggs! Albeit spendy ones. Lol
We do have quite a few chicken and egg producers here. Going to make some visits to find out what they feed and where to get it. I'm quite sure it's coming from one of the mills around here.
Back to starter feed. Going to try that. Quite spendy though.
When I say they get fruits and vegetables it not like that's a huge part of what they get. They do range all day. Very few bugs out there anymore only because they are eating them.
Did try game bird feed that has higher pro time but...
I would have to ask about the protein. There are no labels it is bagged in bulk. The mix I need to ask. The one thing I do know they eat very little of the fines which I believe is the supplement. They like the corn.
Do I treat for worms etc without knowing they are infected?? Since it has only...
Not from a breeder or a hatchery. Wife picked up the orfies from someone hatching the eggs theirs had produced, so not likely any were vaccinated. In fact I am sure none of the birds we have are.☹️
We feed locally processed at the feed mill. It's cracked corn and 10% layer supplement. We also give them cantaloupe, watermelon, some veggies. Wife has taking a particular likening to one bird who has a severe crooked beak. She feeds him cottage cheese, yogurt, mixed with oatmeal, cracked corn...
Any signs we had at all was the day before could tell something wasn't right. Slowed down, and kinda separated itself from the rest.
What signs would I look for? Remember I am as new to chickens as they are to me. 6 months now.
Have had two orphingtons pass about two week apart. Exact same thing. Seems fine, within 24 hrs weak, and lethargic, stops eating and drinking then dies suddenly. What can kill so fast and seem to pick on one at a time.
6 month old birds, only the orpfies affected?
Could it be a injury?
