Hens or roos? I got these 3 as "pullets" from my local feed mill. I feel like 2 are a little rooster like. Thoughts?

The more mature looking Ivory Sasso is a little fiesty, which got me thinking rooster but also crouches down if I pet it which I'm thinking is hen behaviour ?

Quick update: There have been no further maggots. I kept her inside for a week spraying with vetericin, then putting on polysporin a couple times daily, soaking as needed. She's eating drinking and pooping well. Behaviour seems back to normal. She has a scabbed area on her bottom. I let her go...

Thank you!! So far no more maggots for 36+ hours but I will keep checking for a couple more days just in case. Does anyone know how long they can continue to reoccur? I am using vetericin several times a day after cleaning but now that there haven't been maggots I will add polysporin. I really...

a I am in Canada. My local feed mill doesn't have it. I don't see any more maggots today, but I'll keep soaking and treating. She is eating some and pooping. I will kepp treating with the Vetericin. I'm still not confident about recovery but she seems a little brighter

Thanks, I am going to check if I can get permethrin today but not sure it's something available in my area. I read to use polysporin on one website but then also read that the moistness promotes a more favourable environment for the magots so I wasn't sure to use or not.

    Severe fly strike

OK, thanks so much for the advice. I did read to only use peroxide once or twice and I've started putting Vetricyn on after, which I've had good luck with in the past with other wounds. I just did one more soak and clean up before bed and it seems like I was able to get most if not all out for...

Our favourite hen is 7-8years old - the last couple days she seemed quieter and been panting, but we're in a heat wave. I noticed her bottom was poopy so I brought her in to soak and clean her up and was going to keep her out of the heat for a couple days inside the house as she doesn't do great...
