    Rooster eye injury, swollen shut

He is just with his girls. I flushed it again and put more terramycin and he is so happy outside and it already seems less swollen. I really appreciate your advice.

    Rooster eye injury, swollen shut

Thank you so much, Here is a picture of his whole face. The red crusty is mostly old blood, no other injuries. This is after I flushed with saline. He really wants to be outside with the flock, eating fine and active but flies are bad right now and I am worried of the possibility of fly eggs...

    Rooster eye injury, swollen shut

Hello, I have a 1 year old, 7.2 pound roo and his eye is swollen shut following a fight with another roo yesterday. Lots of blood initially but now none. Questions: Should I gently pry open eye to put terramycin in or just on the outside as best I can? I gave him 1 dose of amoxicillin hoping...

    MITES HELP!!!!

I just wanted to say that your description of using the powder is so helpful. I was in full meltdown mode after finding mites today and I have since cleaned out the coop and run and getting my 24 birds all dusted. I really appreciate the time you took to type this up!

    Christmas hatch

Well I gently checked this morning and no chick, coming up on 24 hours since pip but I still hear chirping but can't tell if it's from another egg while not wanting to disturb her nest/being attacked so just gonna keep an eye out and hope for the best. ❤️

    Christmas hatch

This is amazing! I am so regretful right now..I've let my broody sit on eggs in a nesting box and now I don't know what to do. One egg pipped early afternoon and I hear it chirping but now I'm laying in bed worrying all night! I boarded the nesting box halfway so if it hatches out it can't...

Do i keep my chicks on medicated or switch to non medicated

Thank you, I was more leaning towards not feeding the medicated feed at all and doing exposures to dirt from day 12 (their age now). I am nervous about the thiamine deficiency with medicated feed.

Do i keep my chicks on medicated or switch to non medicated

Hello, your explanation was sooo helpful but I have a question: I hatched my chicks and they are 12 days old. We were going to take them out for little amounts of time starting today or tomorrow. Should I start medicated feed now since they didn't get dirt from a few days old? Or would following...

    "Failed" hatch?

I just incubated 17 eggs, took 4 quitters out at lockdown and the eggs were very dark so a few I wasn't too sure about when I locked down. Anyways, 5 pipped on day 20 and we're hatched out in about 4 hours. I waited until day 22 and candled. 1 internally pipped, the others I wasn't sure. My...

Cracked Incubating Egg, Embryo Still Alive!

I checked it again today because I am terrified of an exploding egg and it seems good--I cannot visualize the crack so I believe we covered it well with wax. 😀

Cracked Incubating Egg, Embryo Still Alive!

So cool! My crack is a hairline, so tiny. I'm going to candle again in a couple of days and if the crack is bigger maybe add polish too. 🤣

Cracked Incubating Egg, Embryo Still Alive!

Did this work for you? I put candle wax on one of mine but now I'm thinking to do the polish.
