    It won't get worse? He will be treated in 3 months, once he's done with his medicine. I did talk to my vet a little while ago. They did say I could give 1/10 cc/10 lbs until he's ready for the treatment

    He's not a candidate right now because we are treating pneumonia and a viral infection. After this is over, he will be. But I didn't want to not do anything until he can get treated

    I know it takes time. The adult heartworms will eventually die off. He's not a candidate for treatment, so I can not just do nothing. What would you recommend?

    My Bloodhound was diagnosed today with heartworms. She gave him some medicine because he's not a candidate for treatment yet. I'm very interested in ivermectin. I see the preventative dose is 1/10. But is that the same dosage to kill existing heartworms?
