    GLW Free Chick

This was the free chick in my order I think. I didn't order a golden laced wyandotte which this little one seems to be. I think the free chick is usually a male and with the red wattles at 6 weeks I'm thinking so. What do you think? Cockeral? Too early in your opinion?

    100% Marek's?

It seems to be only the right foot so far, I thought it was a sprain he was still walking around a few days ago but squatted on both knees to eat or drink. When I play with the foot now it doesn't respond like the other side so I fear paralysis. No issues with seeing that I can tell. No wounds...

    100% Marek's?

Sorry I updated my post with some description, I was in the middle of typing when it posted on me. I can get some more pictures.

    100% Marek's?

Boy presented with limp, pale comb, one eye is half open sometimes, separated from flock in kennel.. sister has two half open eyes now so I added her to kennel. Now green diarrhea with some red tinge at first, now just liquid and green. Girl drinking water, stringy mucus in mouth, puked up...

    All Roos?

These are Silkie X Easter eggers, are these three cockerals? About 10-12 weeks.

    Guessing Early Silkie Genders

Same chicken, approximately 13-14 weeks old. The smaller black frizzle counter part has huge red come & wattles, he also crows so loud all morning. This paint satin silkie still makes me wonder if it could be a hen.. no croaks at all that I've witnessed, I know it could be a late bloomer. What...

    Name, New or Old?

Coop is still a work in progress, some of these pics are earlier in construction. Everything is secured to the ground and to each other. There is chicken wire over the run that you can't see, eventually will replace with more hardware cloth. I need to bury the coops apron, paint, and add roofing...

    Name, New or Old?

Thank you, you addressed exactly what I was thinking. I eventually want to get goats as well but I'm taking baby steps and want a fort Knox set up before we go there. I think currently I will take your advice and find a name to sell under, then use "by Lazy K Ranch".. maybe I could use "Hilltop...

    Name, New or Old?

I'm looking for advice on what name to sell my eggs and chicks under. Lazy K Ranch or something new? Do you have ideas? My ranch has a name already, it's been "passed" down (purchased) from family.. so I'm not sure if I should go with that because it has rich history and meaning to us.. or go...

    What kind and gender?

Please help me figure out if they are hen or roos. Also take a guess at their breeds if you can. #1. 5 toes, there were silkie and polish in the backyard breeders flock. #2 I was told OE #3 some random black feathers popping up, this bird is in photo above also #4 5 toes, I...

    Guessing Early Silkie Genders

2 weeks later, the younger black one has large wattles and the comb is growing but this one still has none. Poor chickie gets so dusty. I'm wondering... Could it still have a chance of being a hen or is it just a late developer? Is this a satin silkie?

    Puffed Chick

Chick was only separated for a few hours so thankfully it's been back with the group since yesterday. This morning it's been stretching its wings, walking around pecking, drinking, likes to stand in the sun streams, and got really excited about eating when the food container lid was taken off...

    Puffed Chick

Hi. I'm newer to chicks, so I'm trying to be proactive. We have 14 chicks ranging from 2 weeks to 8 weeks, not all together but cages are next to each other to socialize before mixing. I have a chick 3.5 week old that looks a little disheveled, puffed up and neck retracted, which isn't usual. I...

    Guessing Early Silkie Genders

Now I know this is all speculation at this age, maybe 2 weeks. I don't think this is a pure silkie. This little one has stayed very small though while other chicks seem to outgrow it.. has very feathered feet and with this raised comb, is this still good indicator that it's a cockeral?
