    I absolutely love your little flock! I started with 3 hens, two RIR and a Barred Rock! I lost one RIR to a hawk two years ago, but my Barred girl is 4 years old and still lays eggs daily! I’ve been thinking to shrink my flock to down less than 10, as having 30+ chickens can be a bit much at times.

    A barred rock was the very first chicken breed I ever owned! I still have her, as she’s just turned 4! She lives with her sister, a RIR, who came from the same batch of chicks I bought.

    Pekin bantams. Mine love attention, lay lots of small to medium cream colored eggs, they’re quiet, and roosters are very docile!

    SS are pretty decent, they like to be higher in the pecking order in mixed flocks, and they LOVE to attack bantams.

    I have a mixed flock, but I may switch to having two flocks. My first flock would be all Plymouth rocks, and the second either cochin bantams, booted bantams, or salmon faverolle bantams.
