I am in California an am seeking 2 Olive Egger chicks either day old the week of 6/9/25 OR 6 to 8 weeks old the week of 6/9/25.
I want to bring in pullets that will lay dark green eggs, speckled one would be a bonus.
The one that had pipped Thursday night was dead when I intervened.
One hatched late yesterday. I had to help it and it's not fluffing up. Any thought's?
I candled the 14 remaining eggs. I could clearly see live babies, but nothing has hatched in 12 hours.
I put the eggs in on April 10th. We...
Okay, the one that picked did that sometime around 7:00 last night. If I don't see anything by 4:00 p.m. today I guess I'm going to have to see if the chick is still viable or not and if I can help it.
WOW! I found out that the appointment alone was $150 and that was before x-rays or a splint. The vet estimated at least $500.00. I can't afford that.
Any suggestions?
Our electricity went out and before It came back on, about 20 minutes, it dropped to 92 degrees before it came back on. How will this affect the chicks? Only one had pipped and 3 had hatched.
This seems to be a severe case. Is this hopeless or something else?
The chick hatched hours ago. I was able to get cuffs on each side, but I can't figure out how to tie the legs together correctly. He is still sitting on the ground and can't stand when I try to tie the cuffs together.
After multiple calls to different vets AND 4 hours with phone problems today I may be able to take her to a vet tomorrow. IF not, it looks like the 7th is the earliest I can get her in.
Not many vets treat chickens.
Yes, a rubber band grew into her skin. I found out too late and thought that was the only issue. I treated the skin injury for about a week and thought things were ok. Obviously they weren't or something else happened. (See the area in the attached photo.)
I might be able to swing a vet. But I...
I have a month old chick with a leg problem. She had had a leg injury (cut) which was treated, but now she appears to have another problem with this same leg.
Her left leg seems to turn inward at the knee and some of her toes may not be straight.
How do I treat this? How long will this take...
