So, not trying to hijack the thread, but this thread got me concerned about my 18 wk olds now. I just combined my youngs with my olds. They are all eating the same food now-- not much I can do about that. Is layer feed going to hurt my 4 month olds? I leave chick feed out for them, but I'...
We did put out extra waters and at first it was working, but then the older girls decided to play keep away water and keep away food and keep away shade. I was totally stressed, but by afternoon, the older girls lost interest and were letting them drink.
As for sleeping arrangements...
Oh, also, we have several shade locations in the outer run available to the hens. But no matter where the younger girls hide, if it's in shade the older girls chase them right out into the sun.
So I'm trying, emphasis on TRYING, to introduce my two young hens into an established mini-flock of three. Due to having to leave town and a unwilling chicken sitter-- I only have till Wednesday to have them totally acclimated and in the coop all together. For the last two weeks they have been...
Well fourth dose of Valbazen was a no go. We checked their poop again today (four days out from the final dose we gave them last week) and there were just as many segments as before the dose. No adult worms have passed what so ever.
Sadly, as I am going on a three day vacation in three...
Ok so I'm going through this right now, so I am positive that there are going to be more folks out there with better info than I can offer. However, my understanding is you introduce them when they are all roughly the same size. That way you don't get the little ones beaten to a pulp while...
Hey dawg53, thanks again! This just stinks because I know that they will just keep getting them back. But I keep hoping, if I can kill the ones they have now, and then do the things to help make their guts a little less friendly to live in (like the apple cider vinegar in their water, the...
Worst part though is no eggs for a month and a half. Not that they aren't laying, just we can't eat them. It's torture throwing away eggs every day... Stupid tapeworms.
Yep... that's what we are seeing, only a little smaller. Two of the girls have only a few in their feces. But the one has as much as in the picture. We definitely have been shaking the bottle before dosing, and surprisingly, my girls are really easy to dose-- so other than a drop or two...
Kansaseq-- All it took was one go against with a flogging Delaware hen over a prime rib bone and she's been scared ever since! LOL. Funniest thing I ever saw in my life. I'm not sure if it was the fact that the hen wanted the prime rib bone, or the fact that a six lb hen chased a hundred...
I was hoping someone could give me some advice-- My three oldest hens have what appears to be tapeworm segments in their feces. I purchased Valbazen through Jeffers, dosed them twice at 1/2 cc orally per bird, ten days apart. Then noticed there was still segments, and lots of them, after the...
This is my "bully" girl, Paikea. She's an American Bulldog mix. She's huge, like 100lbs huge, but scared to death of the chickens. LOL! Total wimpy puppy.
