    Stiff leg

    So, here is my dilema.One of my 3 day old silkie chicks has a stiff leg and cannot extend it. It is "stuck" in the flexed position. I tried to extend it myself, with no success. There is minimal swelling. Any and all advice is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

    Eggs usually hatch at 21 days. Increase the humidity to 80% and let nature do the rest.

    Neighbors let their aggressive dog free in our yard

    Contact your animal control or local law enforcement agency. Bottom line: it is your neighbor's responsibility to maintain their dog. I would have a pellet gun with me at all times. A pellet in the butt is better than a bite out of your arm.

    The leg cannot bend at all. It is stiff as a board. The joint has some swelling, however, it has been this way since the chick hatched.

    If you look closely, the left leg will not extend. It is almost like it is frozen in place. I hope this pic helps.

    Our silkies finished hatching today. We now have about 21 chicks. I was in the "baby room" vacuuming, and my wife noticed one of the chicks not moving well. She picked it up and noticed that the left leg is really stiff. It is bent at the joint and won't straighten out. Any suggestions on what...

    My name is Andrew. My wife and I have been raising chickens off and on for about 8 years now. We have/had Rhode Island Reds, Dominickers, Orpingtons, Wyandots, Guineas, Ducks and Geese. This year, we decided to take a chance and begin to raise Silkies. We are having fun.
