Columbus, MS can I have Chickens? Here is the ordinance.

From what I gather: Chickens are fine. You cannot kill the chickens, you have to have the chickens vaccinated for rabies yearly, they much be in a coop/enclosure and remain in your yard/on your property at all times, you are no longer allowed to keep them if your neighbors complain about noise...

    Albuquerque BYCers

Maybe try the Chamber of Commerce for additional info? Maybe if they can't help they'll be able to steer you in the right direction. Can you contact Urban Ch or Duke Ci, directly?

    Questions for outlaws!

Don't have chickens yet, but they will be illegal with I get them . One thing I was thinking to try to keep under the radar til I can get the law changed, was to build a "chicken coop incognito". Simply build a LARGE green house which doubles as a coop/run/all-n-one. This would keep the...

    Subsections

Subsections by state within "Local Chicken Laws & Ordinances (and how to change them)" section? Might help a little with searches since not everyone puts the state within the thread title? I know it'd be a PITN to retrofit, but would help members looking for similar threads or law updates. My...

    Changing Deed Restrictions?

Quote: What you want to do is re-write the current sections. If for example you have something that says "3.(a) Livestock, including poiultry is not allowed" the amendment you propose could read "3.(a) Livestock, including poultry is allowed with the following restrictions: [and then list...

Selling eggs for consumption in Florida?

^ That seems like a good work around.

    Changing Deed Restrictions?

Quote: I was thinking anything I come up with as the actual text of the amendment wouldn't necessarily undo the C&Rs. Guess if I'm paying a lawyer I might as well have them type it up for me so all the bases are covered. Thanks for the confirmation. The tax records is what I'm looking for...

    Changing Deed Restrictions?

Quote: There is a search by address option, but that's one of the problems. In 1994 all of the addresses changed to comply with the new 911 system. So the addresses on the deeds prior to 1994 would not match. I might be able to cross reference them somewhere, but either way I have a lot more...

    Changing Deed Restrictions?

Quote: That was my initial thought as well, but I hate looking through laws and was wondering if anyone already knew, or could tell me were to look within the Texas law . Trying to save a little time. Yeah, the "don't tell the folks that might oppose the change" statement was just for now...

Selling eggs for consumption in Florida?

No Florida law expert (though I am a little familiar with the horrible building codes y'll have - blah) by any stretch of the imagination, but I've had to get around a few Uncle Same laws here recently with one of my "hobbies". When Uncle Sam puts a restriction on something, say the 3000 laying...

    Changing Deed Restrictions?

Quote: 1. Ah... Yeah, meant from present back to 1986 and not before. I think I might be ok (or at least 1/2 ok), since it seems our lot was one of the first to be sold. I believe the other deeds were after 1985. I'll keep looking. If I come across a deed recorded in 1988, lets say, how would...

    Changing Deed Restrictions?

Quote: I was thinking along the same lines regarding the C&R even being legal to impose. Is there a way I could look up the law myself before talking to an attorney? Quote: Yes, all the property was subdivided at the same time. I have a plat (provided with the deed & "C&R") which shows each...

    Changing Deed Restrictions?

Quote: Thank you so much for your insight. Yeah, unfortunately for me the "Covenants and Restrictions" specifically say they will apply to the land regardless who owns it or how many times it's transferred or sold (no subdividing allowed per the "C&R"). But as you mentioned, there is a 60%...

    Changing Deed Restrictions?

Well, I think I found a work around. There is an "amendments" section were it states 60% of the lot owners can sign an amendment to change any of the restrictions. Now starts the daunting task of finding all these people. Any help on where to even look would be greatly appreciated...
