    Connecticut!

Hey all, My girls went to their new home today. :)

    Connecticut!

I have three ten month old Rhode Island Red hens that I am looking to rehome. They are healthy, sweet and lay eggs. All three will stay still when you approach them so that you can pick them up and LOVE Cheerios. I would like to find them a home where they will not be someone's dinner and they...

Wow - I'm so sorry. :( I'm in Bristol, but so far I haven't had any issues. Mine are locked in their coop at night which is located in my garage. A predator would either have to be able to open a window or a door. I do need to be less lax about locking them up at night though.

I like cheese too much to ever be vegan. :) Aww. I'm sorry. :( I would love to have all the chickens in the world if I lived in a place suited for it. I have a small backyard and a small-ish coop and I don't plan on staying here indefinitely. My goal is to resist getting chicks next spring.

That's awesome. I'm all for not culling and a vegetarian. :) I'm considering a few more chickens but I'm not sure. I adore my three girls and am not positive I want to mess up their little trio. They are perfectly happy with each other.

Yeah, I've been concerned about that. Mine are in my garage, the coop is built into the back so that they typically go out the window and down the ramp into the yard. The garage is separate from the house and not very well insulated but much warmer than outside. I've thought about a water heater...

Awww. Do you have a heater? I'm not sure if I'm supposed to but mine seem okay. I just keep trading out their water because it keeps freezing.

I have three chickens. I get 2-3 eggs a day and I think they hatched in April of last year. I'm not sure what is normal. (I was trying to reply to celtic's post)

My chickens won't come out either. I didn't even bother opening the window for them today because it just makes it colder for them and they won't budge.

    Egg cartons

Does anyone know where I can get a small amount of egg cartons near Bristol? I have been to the Tractor Supply store and a feed store in Berlin and they are both out of them. I have been looking online but I don't need a hundred of them, I just need a few. I only have three chickens.

    My chickens are dying. :(

I have lost all four of my original chickens. :( I got a preliminary report back on the necropsy of one of them and the doctor said she thinks that it could be Merek's. The last chicken that I had to have euthanized displayed what I have read to be a classic Merek symptom, the splayed legs, one...

    My chickens are dying. :(

Thank you! I will do that. I've been treating them with Duramycin and so far it has been two weeks and no one has been sick or died.

Buff Orpington Cockerel in Bristol, CT.

Jo, I'm sorry that I didn't update this. He died three weeks ago. :( I actually lost him and another chicken about a week apart and I'm not sure what was wrong with them, so the rest of my flock is currently being medicated. I'm still devastated.

    My chickens are dying. :(

I have no idea. :( My vet couldn't do the testing and both times I was unable to get them to the university here that does, as it isn't close to my house. I've had everyone on medication for the last few weeks and so far haven't lost any more but I worry every day that I will. :(
