I think it was ammonia burns from poo. Once they went to free range it cleared up. Then I have 6 others now and one is starting so I put them out! If it is not treated can turn into bumble.
It will have a floor. Then the top will open to gather eggs. The run if we make one like pictured will be walk in. Have any waterer ideas for ducks/geese?
Trimethroprim. I also found pappillomatosis and it seems like it could be that but I am having a hard time finding what to treat viral infection with for ducks.
The vet prescribed an oral that goes by weight but my geese have since grown over 1 pound in 5 days and I called tos we about increasing and the vet never got back to me which is irritating. I don’t want be o waste my time giving antibiotics that are not enough because my birds are growing!
Did it ever heal? My ducks have it bad and telehealth vet said bumble and they are on antibiotics but it does or look like the typical bumble. Looks just like orange warts plus they are always on fresh bedding. I’ve been using apple cider, epsom salt soaks and antibiotics but it is day 4 and...
I am thinking one house for geese and then a house witht a small opening for the ducks in case they need to get away from the geese. They are brooding together and when I had them separated all they did was cry.
The ducks were horrible and it spread so fast. Glad they are doing much better now. Surprisingly with how common it is this did NOT come up in my readings about raising fowl. Now we know to always be checking.
Plenty of space fore them! My husband is NOT a carpenter and he just built our first coop! I actually think it is the first thing he has ever built and it’s great! However, when he started it we only had 6 chicks and now we have 10 and it is 25 sqft. BUT our chickens will free range when...
We have 4 geese and 4 ducks in which we will likely get more ducks in the future. They will be free ranging during the day and locked up at night. The oldest are about 3 weeks old and we have to get a coop built! What are some essentials or things we should think about when building? I like...
Hoping to get them healed up nicely so they can get outside. The geese are over 2 lbs now! They get bigger every day! My husband better get on making their coop!
Update: Day 3 of antibiotic, apple cider vinegar in their water and Epsom salt soaks. The orange wart looking part has started to dry and turn more greyish. Some of the Wart like part is starting to peel off. It seems to be healing and not getting worse.
the geese only had it on the back pad...
Back together it is! Not a peep out of them! Thanks again. I will keep updated on their Bumblefoot and try to post progress photos so others can use it as a reference if needed. The vet gave them trimethoprim.
Someone mentioned they will start to beat up on the ducks. They also do not have Bumblefoot as bad. It is just starting on their back pad so I thought it may help to stop the spread and also keep them cleaner with less birds in each one. I do feel bad as they have not stopped chirping.
Got the new brooders set up. Also switched up the bedding to a finer shaving. Thank you for all your help everyone! They are not happy about being separated but we just want them better as soon as possibly. FYI we have checked all of our chickens and they seem clear from Bumblefoot.
