    What are they eating?

I had no idea all of that was in my grass!!! And yes, mine make those piggy noises too. You sure can tell when they've found something extra yummy! When I come home from work and they've been rooting through the grass all day, they look like swamp creatures with threads of sloppy old grass...

    What are they eating?

My ducks love to be out in the grass shoveling through it and finding stuff to eat. My question is, does anyone know what they are eating? They plow through the grass with their beaks, making all kinds of happy sounds. But I have no idea what they could possibly be eating. They get way down...

    Chain Link vs. Racoons

If it eats chickens, ducks or geese, I'm sure this guy has had it happen. You can't have several yards of free ranging poultry and not have any losses. Maybe for him its just minimal because he has so many.... Thanks for all your advice! I'll be weasel -proofing the run now too.

    Chain Link vs. Racoons

Thanks. I'll have to go down and pick my neighbors brain to find out what lurks around the area. I have a feeling I haven't seen anything like this because of the cats. There are lots of them around, including mine. But its good to know this is a possibility. Thank you!

    Chain Link vs. Racoons

I looked on ODFW website and they say that weasels and martens live east of the cascades and in the cascade mountain ranges. It could be possible that we have mink, but a pretty slim chance since I am not around any body of water and they tend to primarily live on the banks of lakes and rivers...

    Chain Link vs. Racoons

Thanks. I am in the Portland Oregon area. I don't think we have weasels, or at least, I've never seen one. Something I'll have to google I guess :)

    Chain Link vs. Racoons

Thanks so much. I knew about the grabbing them from the outside, which is why I put hardware cloth around the bottom. If I have enough left, I will probably wrap it around again, making the enclosure almost completely wrapped in hardware cloth (4' high). To my knowledge, we do not have...

    Chain Link vs. Racoons

Hello All....I have a dog kennel (7 x 12) that I am converting to a duck nighttime enclosure. It had an existing doghouse, which I am expanding/updating, and it has an asphalt floor (the bottom of the kennel is buried in the asphalt). I have put field fencing over the top, and 1/4" x 2' hardware...

    Automatic Chicken Doors for Ducks?

Good to know! I kind of figured. Ducks seem to have a much more independent (in terms of their schedule) nature than chickens. I had a pair of chickens growing up and I swear you could set a clock by them. Thanks so much!

    Welsh Harlequin

This is my first time raising ducks (seven 5-week-old ducklings as of yesterday). Two are WH and they are by far the calmest of all my ducklings. I have been moving them inside at night and out to a day pen during the day since they were about three weeks old and the WH are typically the only...

    Automatic Chicken Doors for Ducks?

I am new duck owner and I would like to not have to worry about my flock being left outside because I was not able to get home in time. I plan to predator proof their daytime pen, and they will have a night time pen for super-secure safety, but as a back up I'd like to install an automatic door...
