I am looking for goslings of both. Located in NYS. Willing to drive a fair distance for the right goslings. Please contact me through email so I do not miss your message. :-) Trying to find new friends to talk geese ... but wanting to start a small flock of cotton patch most of all. :-)...
I was sleeping and my daughter and friend were keeping watch ... by the time I realized what was going on in my sleepy stupor, he had gotten away. I don't honestly KNOW how he got in. There are still NO HOLES or anything in the fencing or netting!!!! Stupid dumb thing. But now that I know he...
i want to thank everyone for your suggestions and I will take each one and use what I can from all of you!!!!
Turns out it is a GIANT raccoon! We saw it last night while it literally grabbed my male wood duck and pulled it's insides out. Weird ... early this morning ... it didn't rip the sides...
The flight pen is built with chicken netting (two layers ... one layer of two inch with a layer of one inch over the top to keep the quail in. Then I have two inch poultry netting stretched over the top, down the sides and hog ringed on at three inch intervals. The gate is made out of the same...
I have weasels, mink and fisher cats around here, although I have never seen them. But my understanding is weasels bite heads off and whatnot, but these birds were literally gutted from the side ... the heads weren't bothered on the birds, no bite marks, etc
Okay, I have looked and looked and have not found anything that resembles this kind of slaughter I experienced last night. Hopefully someone here can help ...
My pheasant and chukars were killed last night. En masse .... however .... no beheading.
My coop is not disturbed. No holes, tunnels...
I pulled it, took it outside and cracked it. Cleaned it well, and now I have a nice half shell and the pieces to make a hatching dragon ... or maybe I'll felt a hatching emu! :-) Thanks for your advice. I am excited to see the rest of these hatch! :-) Ang
I know that, on occasion, there are chicken and duck eggs that start to be stinky and are still good. But I have one emu egg that is smelling pretty bad ... does it mean it is definitely no good? I hate to throw it out if it might still be good. :-/ This is my very first try at emu eggs and I am...
Well, all I know is hatching wouldn't be nearly as fun and would get **** boring if all you did was throw eggs in a 'bator and sit around waiting. "Lockdown" always sounded kinda stewpit to me anyway. I enjoy pulling my eggs out, gently candling them once every couple of weeks or so depending on...
Yes I did. :-) I cannot wait for it to arrive!! I also want to replace my Sportsman eventually too, but that's a bit cost prohibitive right now for me.
I will use that little ReptiPro for everything. Eventually I'll prolly get another one if i like it.
I know ... I open mine too. For candling so I can remove bad eggs, to add water, etc ... "Lockdown" doesn't make much sense to me ... chickens do come off the nest periodically to eat, poop, get water ... not for long, but just long enough. I never had a hatching issue that I know of because of...
I just went online and bought a ReptiPro .... now I wait for that to arrive. :-) What types of thermometers are you using? Digital?
Cool testing sounds like something that takes practice and knowledge. I mean to feel the slight variant in temp. It's so funny to listen to you guys because...
