Thanks, Sheila I just bought some starter but I really didn't know WHY I needed to give them that. I'm sure it's obvious that I hadn't planned on babies! I've been very content with my layers. But my grandchildren sure love those little ones!
THANKS! So much for all the good advice. Mom seems to be taking care of them and they are away from the rest of the flock (smart mom!).
So I think I will keep a watchful eye on them and see what happens.
What do I do now? The momma kept them well hidden and since I've never hatched any chicks myself, I don't know whether to just let momma take care of them or whether I need to intervene.
I think they are only 1-2 days old.
When I first added new chickens to my flock, I was advised to keep the new ones seperate for about a week. My coop is actually in an area with 3 old dog runs. So the new ones and old ones could see each other though the fencing but not get to each other. I didn't have any problem when they were...
