    Haha you don't need to apologise to me :-) I just hatched my first lot of chicks and I was extremely nervous too. I learnt that hatching takes time though.. they come out when they're ready and assisting too soon can kill them.

    Sometimes they take over 24 hours to hatch, just be patient!

    Congratulations on the 100% hatch rate! That must feel so good. Oh no! Don't you live close to a store that sells globes? Hopefully it arrives ASAP! Don't be silly, you're not bothering me. I'd love to see your babies :-) I'll post some pics of mine soon too.

    Thank you :-) Just white sugar from the store? Oops. I already put food in there but the newer hatched ones aren't eating it yet, just the ones that are 24 hours or more old.

    Chickens hatched, what now?

    I've just hatched 12 beautiful baby chickens. The brooder is set up. Heat lamp, chicken starter and water. Is there anything else I NEED to know that is critical to their health? It seems pretty straight forward but I'm sure there could be something I haven't learned about. Thanks :-)

    So 12 out of 13 hatched. I opened the last one up and he'd died. Not a bad hatch rate for my first time though so I'm very happy. Are all of your fluff butts out yet?

    HELP

    He's gone :-( Fully removed him from the shell after I knew he was gone. Yolk hadn't finished absorbing but other than that not slimy or dry. How do I dispose of the body? I've got about 5 minutes.

    Okay thanks. I'm happy that I've had 12 hatch out of 13. And I originally started with 14 eggs. Not bad for my first time.

    One egg left but there's been no movement from him.. I think he might be dead :-(
