I'm sorry, I can't give you an answer, seeing I never got any solution to this either.
But she made it trough the winter just fine. I hope yours will too.
Good luck!
I always wash them, just with cold water, but then again, lot of the eggs have spots and/or mud on them. The once that aren't dirty, I just rinse and I let the dry on a tea towel.
Thank you Kelsie
I just let them soak in water for a bit (when muddy al little longer).
A lot of times the eggs already have some light streaks specially when it rains and the eggs get some mud on them. So 99% of the time I really have to wash them till their one color.
I never had this problem...
Hi everyone,
I looked to see if someone posted something like this already, but I couldn't find anything. Probable because I don't know how to call this. Therefor I call it my Michael Jackson eggs.
We got new red laying hens in June when they were 16 weeks old. They starting laying quite quick...
"Oh, this egg is brown, I don't like brown eggs, I only eat white."

Maybe a stupit question, but how do you keep mealworms?
Do you keep them in an aquarium of sorts? I have really no idea.
We collected grasshoppers this summer (lots around), they loved them too.
Are there insects you better not give to chickens?
We live in Manitoba and last year was our first winter with our chickens. I can only tell you what we did and they made it trough the winter in tip top condition.
We put a thick layer of stew on the floor so they couldn’t freeze their toes off.
We have a large plastic chicken waterer with red...

Last year we build a chicken coop with an inside coop with 5 nesting boxes and an outside, so they can wobble around.
We got 10...
