    Hello I have had no experience with this, but my instinct would be to cover the cracked end with a small piece of cling wrap- I think in the US it is Ceran wrap. It is used on burn victims to help prevent moisture loss and prevent infection. Good luck with your baby.i hope it is still doing okay.

    I have never seen them in that situation. Other birds raise the alarm sometimes when a snake is around , and my flock just go onto high alert. I have never found a snake pecked to death. I think a mother hen would possibly would and a braver Rooster than mine might also.
