    Blood on pullets eggs...is this normal?

    Can someone tell me if it is normal for a pullet to lay an egg with a ring of blood at the top (pointed part) of the egg? I am assuming it is blood (sure looks like it). I have 2 Spitzhaubens that lay white eggs, the last 2 small ones had a ring of blood on them....I think it is Mitzy laying...

    PurpleChicken - I am so sorry you lost that little one....at least you have more to love....they are all so very precious. I just lost my first (and only) bantam baby that the momma hatched (only lived 4 days) on Wednesday....I cried all day and a little bit every day since - even my 'Iowa'...

    What is the name of the book? I vaguely remember hearing something like that. Thank you for your reply - I am so very sad. We are going to go to the VC Fairgrounds for a bird show on Saturday and I hope to find someone there who may also have some words of wisdom on raising baby chicks....
