I bought the eggs as Ameraucana, so they should be a cross of two EEs at the very least. Would pink eggs just be considered a form of brown egg, or is there a special trait that causes the pink hue? I was reading a thread that explained EE egg colors, but they didn't mention pink eggs. (Silkie...
I did my eggtopsies and two of my eggs were infertile from the beginning. So I started with nineteen shipped fertile eggs, one of which was cracked, all of which I put into lockdown since it was my first hatch and I didn't trust myself to see quitters. Four fertile eggs didn't make it, so that...
I'm technically a third of the way through day 22 and a few of my eggs haven't pipped. I'm going to give them another day and hopefully they will by then. One of my eggs that arrived cracked hatched earlier so I'm pretty happy about that. How long should I wait before assisting?
I currently have four hatched and five more pipped. No EE eggs hatched yet. Day 21 officially started at 4 PM for me. The egg that has been labeled 1 since the beginning was the first to hatch. As soon as I figure out how to get my iPad to let me post a picture I will. :D
Awesome. I'm not picky about their colors, but I have been looking for SQ runners. I was also thinking of getting muscovys or Pekins for meat. I really love duck but the runners are going to be for eggs only.
I'm waiting until I move to get eggs, so patience isn't an issue for me. There is a farm in Corvallis that has runners, so I was probably gonna get two babies from them to start out. If you don't mind me asking: What are your prices when they start laying?
Both of my clutches lock down on Thursday. I'm excited! :D I'm going to look into getting some runner duck eggs next, because I've always liked ducks and everyone in my family wants some. The plan is: I get a lot more eggs than I need and the extra chicks or ducklings that hatch get distributed...
I'm planning to keep three, and give away/sell some others. Depending on how soon I move, I might keep more. There are a few people who live around me that have chickens, so I might see if they would want some.
I don't actually know the rh in the dry one because my hygrometer is a built in one on the other incubator. I've been going off of how much they weigh. It seems like it would be in the twenties or low thirties, if I had to guess.
Today I did the second set of weigh-ins, and so far it looks as though the dry(er) incubation method is the better one for attaining optimum weight loss. I needed to add a small amount of water to the incubator after week one to slow the process, but that was a tiny adjustment. It is hard to...
I did my weigh-ins today and one of my incubators is having them lose their optimal amounts of weight nearly perfectly. The other is having them keep their weight on a tad too much. I'll fix that by lowering the humidity though. The really good news is that all of my eggs seem viable so far...
I figured it was a good sign, but reassurance is always good :D. I'm so excited already, I'm probably going to die of a joy-induced heart attack when the first one hatches.
