Aren't meat spots red/brown and hard ? like squishy ? I've seen a meat spot in chicken eggs before, it was literally like a bit of flesh. This was green and like, swirly, I thought it was like a green liquid, or like dust suspended in liquid. Freaked me out.
Good day friends!
Question: Anybody know what the hell this is ? (Pictures attached)
I have some Indian Runner girlies. They are a little over a year old. This was in one of their eggs today. It's like greyish green. The egg is at best 3 days old and was refrigerated the whole time. I'm not...
Thank you everyone! I read all you messages, just didn't have time to respond. My apologies. I Don't have pictures of him in his better years, unfortunately, but I think he is a Partridge Wyandotte, or maybe a mix thereof. When I google rooster of Partridge Wyandottes that's pretty much what he...
Hello friends,
I was hoping someone might help me identify the breed.
This is my mom's rooster. He is 11 years old, maybe more. That's why he looks ... the way he looks :D His name is Gargamel. Mom can't remember what breed he is other than he is a liliputy chicken. I love him, he's so...
Right, excellent, thank you. I read your response, just didn't have a chance to respond, thank you.
I did the vaseline on everyone. The babies hatched, so in a week I'll treat the mom hen. They are tooo cute. But - when it rains it pours, right. 😭 So after I put the vaseline on everyone, I...
Hello friends,
I need some advice. I have two broody hens sitting on two fertilised eggs each, which I gave them because I don't have the heart to break their brooding, especially because one of them is 10 years old. They still have 10 days to go till the eggs hatch. Problem is the flock has...
The ratio is bad. 5 to 5. But before the season started they mated here and there and were all right. The ladies liked it, did the head bobs, you know. It was when spring hit that they went bonkers. Especially because they picked one of the girls and kept chasing and mating her, almost...
Hello friends,
this is a pretty self explanatory question : When is it safe to let drakes out of the drake jail ? How do I know ?
I had to jail my drakes. This was their first season - they went nuts starting in March. They have been incarcerated since the end of April. They are all hatch...
You're welcome :) I'm happy to spam people with poultry media :D
I always put a puppy pad down for them, but they always proceed to promptly ignore it and go everywhere but the puppy pad :D so I just gave up. I've been letting them walk around and peck on some fresh fruits and veggies, because...
Hello friends,
Just to keep you all updated: the Chabo trio is doing well, they are about to be 6 weeks old and are almost fully feathered. Still looking a bit like hellraiser tho :D They discovered their wings and jump out of the brooder, getting chicken zoomies and all that.
Now I correct me...
So they have been on the puppy pads again since Wednesday and there is definitely less sneezing. I open the window more too since it's been warm. Still a sneeze here and there, but much less. They miss digging in the bedding tho. :( I'll try again in maybe a week, I might still have some wood...
They are all 19 days old today. And the feed has 19 grams of protein per kilo. So about 20 ish %. Is that not enough ? I give them hard boiled egg daily and some greens too, for the last couple of days.
They seem to be completely fine behaviour wise. Eating, drinking, running, chirping, no...
So I took some quick pictures. See squiggles ? Naked chicken butt, or back rather. I never saw them picking at each other. Only when they are stealing hardboiled egg pieces from one another :D
I think ventilation is ok, I suspect the hemp bedding might be the culprit, since now it's two...
Update time:
Chicks are doing well I think. I swapped the bed pads for some hemp bedding, an it smells really nice. The chicks really like to dig in it and toss it around and peck at it. The only thing that concerns me is that squiggles sneezes a lot. She would sneeze before here and there but...
I sure will! I saw their moms and dad and they were so cute. And this black beak, black comb variety is rare. Most people keep white Chabo Bantams, or speckled ones. And Chabos in general are suppose to be very friendly and personable. I can't wait for these to grow up.
I think the vitamins did...
