Can my bird be saved? :(

I felt two other hens, their crop area was smooth and maleable. Hers has a sharp, boney feeling. I will massage again. And give oil/calcium. Anything else? Thanks so much

Can my bird be saved? :(

Thank you all for replying. To my knowledge, she ate yesterday and the day before. We both saw her eat when we took the treats and feed out. I’m not sure about the last time she laid. I spoke to our vet yesterday who doesn’t treat chickens, but has chickens. She supported treating her for...

Can my bird be saved? :(

I just noticed her this way today. Is it frostbite? Why is she all puffy? Thank you for your help.

Hen’s comb discoloring - Should I be worried?

Thank you very much for responding. I hate the idea that she has frostbite. :( I will leave it alone, as you suggest. The crack in the egg has already lessened since it’s been in the house. Winter hazards. :-/. Glad there’s likely not an underlying health problem. Thank you.

Hen’s comb discoloring - Should I be worried?

This posted before I could write a description. One of my azure blue’s hen’s comb has a row of white, and then purple at the tips. Is this something to be concerned about? We are in lower New York and it’s been freezing here. She is laying, eating, drinking, and otherwise acting normal. Thank...

    Hens stopped laying?

Thank you so much for the replies. Our chickens don’t get to free range much since one got stolen by a fox so there’s no secret nest. I’ve looked around the run and no eggs there either. They laid two eggs yesterday (the only ones this week) and they are significantly smaller than usual. Please...

    Hens stopped laying?

Hi - I have four hens, 2 are almost 4 years old and 2 are about 3 years old. Within the last 3-4 weeks, egg production has dropped significantly. We were getting 1-4 eggs per day and now we are getting 1-2 eggs per week. They are fed well with the Kalmbach Henhouse Reserve. They get grubblies...

    Would you eat this?

Our eggs have been cracked more recently more than ever before. Not sure they the hens are stepping on them or it the eggs are getting cracked when they are laid. I hate throwing eggs out. My husband is concerned about contamination. Is this safe to eat?

    Beat up Hen?

Thank you so much, coach. She does have pin feathers coming in and must be molting. I gave her some vitamins today as you suggested. Relieved that it’s not something overly concerning. Thank you for taking the time to help. 🐓❤️😁

    Beat up Hen?

She is also walking a little sideways. The internet says that happens sometimes during large molts. Do chickens molt during the winter? It’s been below freezing for weeks/months. Thanks for your guidance.

    Beat up Hen?

Hi Everyone, It looks like my otherwise big and healthy Black Sex Link had the daylights beat out of her. She’s missing patches of feathers all over. A spot on her back, a spot on her side, her chest, and her backside. Her comb is scabbed up as well. She also seems nervous now. She was number 3...
