    Silver Campines

Yes, she wasn't the one in question. :) Here is a picture of all three of them...I think it's fairly obvious which two are the boys! Mariah

    Silver Campines

Thanks, everyone! I can't believe I never got back to everyone! They did, in fact, end up being boys. They are at a new home now, as I can't have roos here. To answer the question re: where they're from: Celestial Farms in Jefferson, Oregon. Here is the little girl we kept, Millicent. :)

    Silver Campines

Hi there, I bought three silver 24-hour old silver campine chicks on October 11, at a poultry swap. Is it too early to tell boys from girls at this age? I can get pictures if someone can tell me what to take pictures of. ;) One of them has a much shorter comb, that is lighter in color than the...

    Turkey Newbie!

Here are some updated pictures of Fig and Maple. The chickens are not entirely sure what to make of them. :)

    Turkey Newbie!

So...do I still want to restrict feed if they aren't of the broad-breasted variety? Are there ANY websites devoted to turkeys and their care, etc? Why do chickens get all the love? :)

    Hello from our little flock!

Thanks, everyone! For the welcomes and the advice. I've put in a question with Oregon State University's extension service asking about blackhead in our area. From the reading I've done tonight it, it seems very, very uncommon in my area. So, if that's the only health concern I need to worry...

    Hello from our little flock!

I've already posted in the turkey section, but thanks! Everyone over there said it's fine to house them together...So, I guess my question is, are all turkeys carriers of whatever diseases can kill chickens and/or are all chickens carriers of whatever can kill turkeys? I see several flocks near...

    Hello from our little flock!

Hi everyone! I'm Mariah. My husband, two boys and I move to Oregon from Alaska last summer. It's been quite an adventure. We bought five chicks last September an we've never looked back. Our girls are: Moxie, white Leighton; Judy, Rhode Island Red; Lottie, australorp; Fred, silver laced...

    Turkey Newbie!

Thanks, everyone! :) so, basically, at this age they're just too young to reliably sex at this point. They make the sweetest little noises! Also, my four year old (human, haha) didn't like the name Meringue. So, Meringue is now Fig. Mariah

    Turkey Newbie!

Thanks, everyone! I'm getting more comfortable with this turkey thing! :) I still don't know if they're male or female, but they are tentatively named Maple and Meringue. No idea which is which or how to tell them apart yet, haha!

    Turkey Newbie!

Our chicken coop is a converted shed (10x5) with an attached outdoor area that is about 12x10. We also give them supervised free range time in our backyard multiple times a week...We only have five chickens. Are they going to be too crowded in this area? We have six foot privacy fencing around...

    Turkey Newbie!

Thank you! Will they start losing their fuzzy face feathers soon? And are they easily sexed at this age? Mariah
