    Amers d’Anvers

I'm glad to see that they did -eventually- make it! You and the buyer must have been terrified.

    Ohio Nationals

Good luck and yes please share pictures! My goal is one day to make it to the Ohio National. It's a drive for us and I don't think my Giants would be competitive...yet.

    April's Jersey Giants

Our next show is in about a month. I'm trying not to be too excited for my group of pullets, but...I really like them so far.

    Best bantam breed for showing?

The best breed is the one you are passionate about. If you are new to showing, usually it is recommended to start with a clean legged breed in a solid color. Choosing a breed that meets those criteria means you only have to worry about body type.

    Jersey Giant late to mature?

Your pullet looks normal. :) Age of lay is more variable with hatchery quality Jersey Giants, it could be anywhere from 6 months onward. My line of Jersey Giants typically do not begin to lay until they are 8-10 months old. Jersey Giants are a slow maturing breed by design.

    Showing chickens

The website Poultry Show Central also has a lot of good information on poultry shows and has a list of shows by state.

    April's Jersey Giants

It's been such a frustrating year to get baby Giants. Started with incubator problems then figuring out who the egg eater was in my best breeding pen. I finally got a nice group of juveniles growing and then the hurricane brought high winds and over 10" of rain to us. Despite my best efforts, we...

    April's Jersey Giants

You're very welcome! I started researching the SOP and breeders well in advance too. Check out the club website, the Facebook group, there's also a FB group called Jersey Giants SOP with good info although no longer active, and there is an old JG thread on this forum that had some good pictures...

    April's Jersey Giants

Hi! Good Giants can be hard to find because so few maintain a website. You may have luck by checking out some shows in your area. I know of a breeder in PA who ships eggs and juvenile pairs, but she has not been active in the club recently so I'm not sure if she is currently breeding. The black...

    April's Jersey Giants

It wasn't even his size that took so long. He was UGLY for the first 21 months of life.

    April's Jersey Giants

This guy is from one of our first hatches. Put him in a cockerel pen, never liked the look of him. Eventually he got too old to butcher so I put him in our layer flock... then I go out this week and wonder who this handsome guy is?? 😂 Apparently some take 2 years to look good.

Having Giants, infrastructure is our weak point. We are planning to expand this fall when it cools off. I'm eyeing a pre-built shed that I could turn into a coop with indoor/outdoor breeding pens, conditioning pens, and grow out space. Just have to talk DH into the expense. ;)

    April's Jersey Giants

I've had my largest hatch year so far! Currently growing out 14 white JGs and 5 black split to white. It may not sound like much but I am only hatching from 2 males and 3 females. I took a break over the heat of summer but hoping to do one more small hatch for autumn as the girls begin to lay...
