5 yesterday, 3 the previous day but only 2 made it into the house as a pullet has decided that the middle of the floor is a good spot to lay. I found that egg with my foot. Starting to integrate the new girls in batches so everybody is upset over the change.
For the past couple of weeks we've been getting 2 per day with a few days of 4 or 5. Another pulled has started laying and is giving us blue eggs. My daughter is thrilled!
I ordered from them in April and chose a ship date in early June. I think once they post the dates for the year, you could choose to get chicks in November even if you order in March. I don't know when they open up ordering for next year, but when they do, the available dates drop down box will...
Welcome! I'm also in southern WI. I was looking at Abendroth's for chicks in a couple of years. I had an awful experience with shipped birds so I like that they are close and I can pick up. Are you happy with the quality of your birds? Would you order from them again?
4 today and it looks like I have a new girl laying! I think we're up to 6 layers out of 17 pullets. Got a small egg that is a different shade of brown than the others in that coop. The only bummer is I'm pretty sure it's from an easter egger and it's brown. Oh well, it's still pretty (and tasty).
It does count, I suppose ;). I kinda figure that's what's happening with mine, too. Its the 4th cracked one I've found. The dummies keep kicking all of the bedding out. If I put any more of a lip on the front they won't be able to get in! I guess I'll just keep adding more daily for now. Only 2...
Chicken math is a real thing. Wanted 5 this year and ended up with 17 AFTER sending some to freezer camp. So no more chickens for a while (unless I can start my bachelor pad :fl) but I'm probably getting turkeys in the spring from Cackle through a local store.
Those are adorable! I recently used feathers to make a hippie headband for my mom's Halloween costume, but have never done other crafts with them. I'm looking into it though since my daughter lost her favorite cockerel and I want to make something for her with some of his feathers. Have you done...
That sounds a lot like our property. 15 acres, highway on the south edge, 3 neighbors with tiny yards line the west, pasture to the north and a hay field between our land and the next neighbor on the east, but our house is in the corner less than 50 feet from the highway and only 20 feet from...
That's what I did for my newest coop and I agree, it's expensive and it certainly takes work, but it's ridiculously cheaper than buying anything prefab of a comparable size!
