Thanks for the links! I bought a doll walker awhile back to make her something she could scoot around in, but I could never get it stable enough for her and was also worried it put too much pressure on her crop and too few areas underneath her. The last thing she needs is pressure sores. But I...
Hey, everybody. I’m not really sure where else to post this question. I have a sweet non-ambulatory hen that was brought to a wildlife rescue I volunteer at and I agreed to bring her home and care for her since I have a small flock. We think she had splay-leg and never received treatment; she...
I fed the bread soaked in oil and he stopped making the noise by the next day. But today he started making it again. I’m going to worm them all, and I started putting VetRx in their water today. I just added a couple of drops, but they’re all avoiding it so far. I think I’m going to put some...
Not sure if it’s the same for chickens, but I volunteer at a wildlife rehab and we get a lot of injured wild birds. Broken wings can heal, and since chickens don’t “need” to fly it won’t have to be perfect. As for the legs, it could be inflammation due to a bruised or sprained back, not...
A vet is an option, but not until in the morning. I’m going to check and see if I have any antibiotics that would work for a respiratory infection just in case.
Thank you for replying. He’s doing the same as this morning - no change at all. I’m getting worried about him so I moved the question over to the ‘Health’ forum:

No discharge, eating, drinking, and poop seem normal...
Since I first checked on the chickens this morning, my rooster has been making an odd noise. It’s a soft noise and he seems like he does it with every breath. It’s occasionally punctuated with a sharp squeak, almost like a hiccup. He hasn’t stopped all morning. Could he possibly have a...
it’s probably no big deal (I hope), but since I first checked on the chickens this morning, my rooster has been making an odd noise. It’s a soft noise and he seems like he does it with every breath. It’s occasionally punctuated with a sharp squeak, almost like a hiccup. He hasn’t stopped all...
Hey, Tay! I live in Minden, Louisiana and love critters as much as you do. Our current menagerie: eleven dogs (most found dumped in the country around here), five cats, five chickens, and one tree rat who will be released as soon as she heals up. I hope to see you around on BYC!
Minden Farm and Garden had some a month ago, but they’re done for the season. I believe Tractor Supply in Bossier had some, too. Did you ever find any?
Do check her butt to be sure she’s not plugged up on that end. Fluids, maybe with probiotics, are essential. Good luck!
To chicken folks more experienced than I, is there any way to manually clean out the crop?
