LED strip lights might work better, like the ones you see in a lot of gamers' rooms. You'll want to avoid anything that has a chance of catching fire like a red heat lamp of course. If they're gonna be inside the coop and have ventilation they shouldn't overheat. There are solar powered options...
It's also possible she might've been suffering from something for a while but was good at hiding it until it was too late. It happens sometimes unfortunately.
I concur with the others. And turkey vultures do not go after live creatures. They're purely scavengers who clean up the "trash" and "Waste" of the natural world. You will never see one attack living chickens.
Greetings!
We give them pretty much any leftovers or table scraps that are safe for them to eat, and not too much. Their favourites are watermelon, radish greens, blueberries, soldier fly worms, and sometimes cabbage.
Yeah, caused by years of exposure to a moldy house. Plus genetics from one of my parents. Kind of messed my gut up big time. Plus growing up not realizing I had a gluten sensitivity, so I ate stuff I shouldn't have for a long time. I'm healing slowly but still have to avoid a lot of tasty things
I've had the same experience! I used to eat a lot of things as a kid for instance that, after being on basically a somewhat strict diet, suddenly taste fake and gross. It's an interesting phenomenon.
For the bread, it's because a lot of bread has additional ingredients that affect me poorly...
Welcome!
I'd love to read more about your hen. I remember a book I read as a kid about a dog who befriended a hen who had the exact same thing happen to her. I didn't realize it was an actual issue that happened irl. She sounds like a trooper!
I like to restore vintage my little pony toys :) Would like to get into restoring other things like furniture someday maybe. I also like working in the yard/garden and doing art. Sometimes playing video games.
