Review by 'Artchickenlover21' in article 'Coop Health: Designing and Maintaining a Healthy Coop'

The best and most detailed, thorough coop guide I've ever read! This is SUPER helpful! My only criticism is the part about wetting the bedding in the hot months. Unless you have sand in their coop, this will most definitely cause mold if done more than once. I recommend trying to keep moisture...

    Hen can't walk or move

We tried everything and eventually had to put her to sleep. She was getting worse despite our best efforts. I suggest just continuing to try and do what you can for her, but after about a month of no improvement we just didn't want ours to continue suffering. The best we can do is research and...

Hen with curled toe paralysis or Marek's disease. Please advise

Update: We've put her down peacefully. She was suffering and refused to eat or drink anymore, and nothing we were doing was making a difference. I'm going to miss her. I did learn a lot on how to treat chickens and identify what is going on at least.

Hen with curled toe paralysis or Marek's disease. Please advise

So she has been doing better, and is constantly trying to stand up, but her feet are still stuck being curled up. Should I use a splint of some kind to straighten them out?

Hen with curled toe paralysis or Marek's disease. Please advise

Update. Her belly seems to be fine. She's still eating and drinking, and we're continuing to give her the vitamins. Her feet are still curled and she's unable to walk but she's sitting up on her hocks a lot now, and she's no longer lethargic except when it's her bedtime. I'm propping her up with...

Hen with curled toe paralysis or Marek's disease. Please advise

We've been giving her the B complex since last Tuesday, roughly 7 days. Her poop is light green and white and solid most of the time. Half the time it's pale yellow/whitish and comes out like a liquid. She hasn't gone yet and we change the bedding so I'll send a picture later when she goes...

Hen with curled toe paralysis or Marek's disease. Please advise

My Red Star hen, Rosie, stopped walking a few days ago. She was stumbling around unable to keep her balance. Since then her feet have become completely paralyzed and curled up into fists. She can't walk or sit up, only shift around now and then. Before I continue, I should mention she has been...

    Hen can't walk or move

Here are two more videos, one of how strange she acts when she eats (looks like she almost can't coordinate her head movements? I wiped her face off after lol, messy eater) and one of her struggling to stand.

I will look into the sling!

    Hen can't walk or move

Another update: She won't eat or drink anymore, she keeps acting "confused" as if she can't tell where the food is and keeps pecking at random spots on the floor. I will try the poultry cell. Unfortunately have no electrolytes on hand

    Hen can't walk or move

Update: Her right foot keeps curling up but is also able to extend. She sits on it when it's curled.

    Hen can't walk or move

About 3 and a half years or 4 years. Diet is regular chicken pellets along with greens we give them sometimes like kale and lettuce. They have been foraging outside since the weather's gotten warmer as well.

    Hen can't walk or move

I have a roughly 3/12 or 4 year old hen who has suddenly stopped moving. Two days ago I found her stumbling around in her coop while the others were roosting for the night, looking around as if she couldn't see well and walking into walls and stumbling. Yesterday she acted fine. This morning I...

    Super lethargic, weird poop

So she ate a bit of scrambled egg which was good, and I made her drink some water. But she died this morning. Last night she was breathing quickly and shortly and I had a feeling she wouldn't make it. The deworming stuff was supposed to arrive today so I was praying she'd make it until then. One...
