Another wee update on Chekov!! She is up on her feet and keeping her balance well, which is amazing considering this time last week there was no movement and not a lot of hope for her!! Only thing is, she is still being fed by tube and to give her water I still need to hold the bowl up to her...
Update on Chekov the duck. She is on the mend I think, she can sit with her head up and she can balance herself while swimming in the bath. Still not able to walk about yet as her neck is still weak. Tube feeding her 4 times a day and she is able to drink water by herself. She is very, very...
That is absolutely great @Eggcessive, thank you so much for all the info!! Definitely makes me feel a bit more definite about the whole tube feeding process!! She seems to be settled now she's had some food and is just resting. I will be sure to post again tomorrow and let you know how she is...
So....I (think) I successfully tube fed her!! I liquidised her layers pellets, water and the oil from a vitamin e capsule. I gave her 35mls of this?! Because she hasn't ate for three days I wasn't sure how much to give her? Do you know how many times a day I should be doing this?
Thank you guys...
Normally she feeds on duck food and layers pellets?? But she's not ate since Sunday and is very weak now, I have tried liquidising food, and she normally loves peas as a treat but just isn't interested and yet she is still drinking so much. What is wry neck? And can it be cured at all?
Thank you for your reply @eggcessive unfortunately things aren't looking too great this morning, although I do think I know what the problem is. Last night she was very restless and got herself in an awful state, after three three hours she managed, with a bit of assistance, to lay her very...
I'm am calling on you great guys for help because I am at a loss as to what is wrong with my 10 month old runner cross. Sunday she was fine, Monday she was far from it!! She wasn't able to stand and seemed to have lost all control in her neck. I automatically assumed it was botulism and brought...
Thank you for your help and advice, she is still going strong just now so will post over in the duck forum to see if anyone has any thoughts about it. Thanks again.xx
If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated!!
Yesterday morning when I let my ducks out there was one missing, on checking the coop I realised that my 10 month old runner cross was still in. When I lifted her she was very limp and couldn't hold her head or neck up. So I brought her...
Hi guys,
Just thought I would give you's an update!! So we now have four little ducks (in the house!!)
The first little one was so delighted to have some friends!! When the next ones came along we tried to put them all under mum and separate her and the babies from the other ducks but...
Thank you Miss Lydia, took the little baby out with me just now to put the ducks to bed, tried sneaking her in with the broody but unfortunately she pecked and pushed her out :( so looks like I am officially a duck mum for now anyways!! Will try again in a couple of days when the next ducklings...
Hi there!!
I hope it's ok to jump in here!! I was just looking for a bit of advice if anyone can help?
I had a duckling hatch out overnight last night and this morning she was underneath her mum all fluffed up I thought things were going great until two hours later the duckling was left outside...
