    Feathered Chicks Suddenly Dying

We had a couple more deaths but all seem ok now. We had both bought a bag of feed from town a little while before this started and we think it might have been the feed causing the problem. After switching back to purina and cleaning the bedding, I only lost one more but she continued to lose...

    Isabella Leghorn?

Thanks guys! I’ll keep an eye on it! If anyone else has pics for comparison when it dries I appreciate them all! 😊

    Isabella Leghorn?

I apologize for the poor quality picture. I recently hatched what was SUPPOSED to be an Isabella Leghorn chick from a white egg, it seems more dark colored than I was expecting and I can’t find many chick pics for comparison on the internet. Is this normal?

when can you tell if a turkey is a girl or boy?

This is actually true (although I’m not sure with small turkeys) in wild birds. My husband always asked if the poo has a hook at the top when we find any hunting!

    Feathered Chicks Suddenly Dying

Different places. The ones that’s been dying most recently were from a reputable breeder in TN and I’ve had them well over a month.

    Feathered Chicks Suddenly Dying

My friend and I have been having fully feathered chicks suddenly get weak and die out of nowhere. The are outside in a brooder (off the ground) and it’s not been cold enough to kill them. We clean the brooders regularly and use pine bedding. We use purina medicated feed (which we’ve never had a...

When do I take eggs out?

This was day 8. I’m on day 10 now. Will they not go rotten if I wait that long?

When do I take eggs out?

Thank you all. That’s what I thought... What about my other eggs? How long should I leave them before checking them again and then taking them out?

When do I take eggs out?

Hello again! I candled my eggs last night and I’m pretty sure half of them have no veins at all but the shell is spotted and it’s hard to tell for sure so I was going to give them a little while before I took them out... how long is safe to leave them in? When should I check the eggs in question...

3 Day Old Chick Won’t Eat or Drink on it’s Own

Update: I’m starting to think my little guy actually might be blind after spending more time with him and reading some similar scenarios online. I’ve still been syringe feeding him water with fine crumble in it. Tonight I was gone for around 5-6 hours after feeding him around 4. When I came back...

3 Day Old Chick Won’t Eat or Drink on it’s Own

These were not shipped. I picked them up in person. I wondered about it being blind myself at first, but when I move my hand far enough away that it can’t feel the warmth it will still run to it.

3 Day Old Chick Won’t Eat or Drink on it’s Own

I have. I try to do that each time before syringe feeding in hopes that it will try on its own bc I know it’s stressful to force feed. 😔 I don’t think it’s even trying to eat. It doesn’t try to peck at anything at all and mostly just sleeps and gets upset when woken up. I don’t feel anything in...

    Hello from Kentucky!

Hello everyone! I’m an avid chicken lover who started from meager beginnings. I never thought I’d have an interest in chickens until I married my husband and he had some. It was an old flock and my father in law cared for them until he died. Only one old hen was left and I took over her care...

3 Day Old Chick Won’t Eat or Drink on it’s Own

Hi. I have a chick I got from a breed in a group of 13 that is dumbfounding me. It seems perfectly healthy and has energy, but it won’t eat or drink on its own. I know they don’t HAVE to until around day 3, but it doesn’t even try to peck at stuff like the other chicks did at first. They’re all...
