Who else is waiting for that first egg?

Our very first flock of Black Australorps, Rhode Island Reds, and 1 Buff Orpington laid their first eggs at 17.5 and 18 weeks old! I was sooo excited! Our second flock (bator chicks of 1st flock) laid late around 23-24 weeks. Our 3rd flock laid around 21 weeks which is about average. I've...

How early is too early to incubate?

Thanks guys! I think we'll try and if it fails we'll just wait a few weeks and try again! Hopefully we'll have a good hatch rate like the first time! They actually hatched about 12 hrs early on Christmas Eve then the rest Christmas Day and 10 more hatched New Year's Eve and Day! It was exciting...

How early is too early to incubate?

Thank you! We incubated at a 100% success rate last Christmas but those hens were almost a year old. We have no clue what we'll get this time around because we have Black Australorps, Easter Eggers, Production Reds, a Gold Laced Wyandotte, a Buff Orpington and Light Brahma's! There is at least 1...

How early is too early to incubate?

Hey everyone! So, we've had a bad coon and opossum problem the last week killing several of our hens and roosters alike. We want to incubate but the majority of our hens are 25 weeks old. They have been laying since 21 weeks and their eggs are close to normal size already. Is this too early to...

    Odd beak growth...

We have just noticed one of our girls has a weird beak growth. It's almost as if the top part grew too rounded so it's not matching up with the bottom part. She seems to eat and drink ok, though. Has anyone else come across this odd problem? Will it correct itself later on or is it something...

    What breeds are these beauties?!

It is crazy! I always try to get more than one picture if I can because sometimes even sunlight and no sunlight can make the difference. Thanks for your input. I will now just assume he is a Production Red!

    What breeds are these beauties?!

This is one of my RIR Roos that we don't have anymore...he legs look more yellow rather than pinkish and he's definitely not as fluffy as my current roo.

    What breeds are these beauties?!

No fluffy legs. Only my Light Brahma's have the fluffy legs. He's got pale legs.

    What breeds are these beauties?!

Thank you! I knew EEs came in a variety of colors so I'm not surprised that most of these are EEs. I am, however, very surprised to hear that the dark roo is a Gold Laced Wyandotte...I would never have guessed that! Very interesting! I was supposed to have 2 or 3 Silver Laced Wyandottes but I...
